Mr Mandalia Surgery

 

Mr. Mandalia has been a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at the Exeter Knee Reconstruction Unit, Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital since 2009. He is also a senior lecturer at the University of Exeter. He is a founder member and current secretary of the British Patellofemoral Society.

 

His practice encompasses all aspects of knee surgery, from joint preservation with biologic knee reconstruction, to robotic assisted total knee replacement. Mr. Mandalia provides a tertiary referral service for the whole of the South West region for cartilage regenerative procedures, osteochondral allograft transplantation, meniscus transplantation, complex osteotomy and patellofemoral surgery. He also provides treatment for complex knee trauma and sports knee injury in elite national and international sports persons. Mr. Mandalia performs partial and total knee replacement and uses advanced technology including robotic assisted knee replacement.

 

Mr. Mandalia is involved in education at various levels. He has been on the education committee of the British Indian Orthopaedic Society for three years. He is the course convenor for the annual Exeter Knee Masterclass and other European knee courses. He is part of an advanced knee arthroscopy cadaveric course run by the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He has presented as an invited speaker at various national and international conferences.

 

As a research lead for the Exeter Knee Reconstruction Unit, Mr. Mandalia coordinates research projects in the department and has been a principle / chief investigator of various national and international research projects, including that of cartilage transplantation, ACL reconstruction, Osteotomy with 3D printed patient-specific instrumentation and robotic assisted knee replacement. With his strong research background, he has authored a large number of peer review publications, review articles and a book chapter.
